1982 Yz125
I don't have too many pictures with this dirt bike yet but they
will come. This is my 1982 Yamaha
Yz125. It is bored over .030 (so I was told) and I bought this beast for a
whopping $800. Not a bad deal at all. She runs well and is a lot
more fun than that raper Honda I had. It is decently fast but its low
gears suck and the real low end torque lacks. Its kinda like a
turbo-charged car, it will go then it is just wham and she kicks in.
Here are some of the aftermath of me in the snow.
And then with no traction I had the wise idea of jumping the jump. I
did fine quite a few times then it was just that one time where I lost her and
paid for it. The throttle got stuck when I crashed and the tire was
spinning on my calf. You can't really see it too well from the picture but
it sure as hell was swollen, black and blue, and painful. Wish my calf was
that big all the time though.
And then you have this picture of me doing a burnout. I was yelling at
my brother because he didn't know how to work the camera and of course he ends
up taking the picture at the most opportune time possible.
I should just cut out my face but hey, I care.
And here is the ghetto rig setup I used because the pipe was bent and
leaked. I just used a clamp from the hardware store and some RTV sealant
and presto! no more leaking. It cost me all of $2 to fix. It stopped
the rattle of the pipe moving and it is smoother over the RPMs. The clamp
pic is good but the other is hazy. The redish stuff in the pic is the
sealant. The last pic is of the rear fender fix. I broke it when
jumping. The rear bottomed out and broke it off so I ghetto rigged that
too. I cut a little here and there and rebolted it up. Voila!
Racing plastic.
